Anchorage Wedding - Tammy and Terry

On Wednesday, New Years Eve, Philip and I headed over to Lake Hood to shoot a wedding in an airplane hanger. Terry the groom is one of the operators of Servant Air, based in Kodiak with flights from Anchorage as well. This was by far the coldest wedding day I've ever experienced, at -11 to -15 all night. I've been out in much colder, but never with 5 ladies in dresses freezing their butts off but still having fun. It was pretty cool. Philip and I were numb; I can't imagine how it would feel to be standing outside with just a thin dress! Tammy never complained and was excited and eager to stay out and take advantage of the beautiful twilight. Their ceremony was beautiful - candle and christmas-tree lit. They gave us a whole bunch of time and let us explore the hanger and find some interesting nooks and crannies to shoot in. Heather from B2E did a great job decorating the place the day before.

A perfect 2008 season ender for us! Thank you Tammy and Terry for being so cool and thank you to all our 2008 brides and grooms for putting your trust in us! -Joe C.

Merry Christmas!

Brook and I are in Michigan for a few more days. We've spent the whole time hanging out with both sides of our family, mostly eating and planning to eat and decorating things to eat. We really need to get back to Alaska so we can stop eating and do some sort of excercise regimen for a few weeks. We've eaten enough to go into hibernation till March. We've also packed up a big box of some of our favorite foods from Michigan that we can't get in Alaska. Usually people leave Alaska carrying Salmon, Halibut, and Crab. We're returning with Pita Chips, best-coffee-ever (15lbs), cookies, bulk chocalate, and a few hockey items for me that are more expensive in Alaska. Below you'll find some photos of our trip, including Brook's Family tree, my family tree (two presents), some pictures of Brook and I and her mom at an antique store trying on hats and crowns, Brook and her cookies, my dad after hockey, my aunt barb and 87 year old uncle who was a baker for the navy in WWII, our niece Abby, and lastly, a picture of a Jeep that flipped over during a snowstorm near Ann Arbor. Should have been driving a subaru :/

Anchorage Wedding - Joree & Kody

Joree and Kody got married this weekend in Anchorage at the Anchorage Alaska Temple. Unfortunately, I was not able to capture the ceremony since no cameras are allowed in the sanctuary. But I had a good time hanging out with this couple after. As you can see in the pictures, these two are great together. -Philip Casey

We've Moved... Again.. For Good!

So Brook and I have finally stopped "Paying The Man" (or woman, as in the case of one of our recent apartments) for housing. We ponied up and got our own "Fixer Upper." And boy... there is a lot of fixer uppering to do here! Some of you may have noticed a lack of blog posts in the past month or so, well, that's because just in order to get a loan on the house we had to complete a 3 page list of "Safety Improvements" like new fire doors, safety electric outlets, fireproof insulation, etc etc etc. Any of you who may know me are probably wondering how I managed to keep all my fingers and eyes and not get electrecuted, but I also had a lot of help from my climbing partner Bryan, and Nick as well. There's a lot of pictures here, because my aunts in Michigan have both asked to see them, so bare with me.. The word to keep in mind is POTENTIAL. Please disregard the bright Red and Green carpeting, wonderful floral/leaf patterns everywhere, and general 1971 decor. Over time we'll bring the place into the new century. We already replaced the kitchen floor because the old floor was too bright and a little too dirty. It happens to snow a lot in Alaska so I had to find a snowthrower - thank you craigslist! There's a shot of me there during a recent blizzard. Oh, and the views are decent too.

Anchorage Wedding - Ericka and Clinton

On Friday night I had such a fun time hanging out with Ericka and Clinton in Anchorage for their wedding. We first had the reception had Clinton's parents house. It was very an intimate ceremony for close friends and family. After we all headed over to the Hilton Hotel for the reception. Ericka and Clinton were two awesome people and I wish them the best as Clinton will be soon heading back to serve our country. -Philip Casey
