We've had some beautiful days here lately. Lots of little Redpolls hanging around our bird-feeder all day. The cold nights and high humidity have formed a ton of hoar frost on everything. Redoubt still hasn't erupted yet but we've seen steam off and on for the past week. Some nice Sunsets and moonsets as well.
The picture of the ravens (thank you Nathaniel for the correction - they are in fact ravens and not crows) is interesting because it shows how hundreds of the ravens that roam the Anchorage area return to the old and twisted pine forests above the glen alps parking lot each night to roost. If you come up before sunset, every single night they fly the same route up and then sleep here. I've often seen them playing on the thermals above Little O'Malley Peak also. In the morning they fly back down into town. I didn't even realize it until a neighbor pointed it out. In this picture there's 17 birds but there were a number of bigger flocks before and after this one.
